Medal See

Catholic! a question?
I would like to start off by explaining that I am a life long non Catholic but I have great respect, and absolutely Love, your beautiful religion
OK, my question is this; How do I correctly care for a Miraculous Medal?
See when i was younger my Uncle gave me a miraculous medal and a few years back i lost it while i was moving
well I just got another one and i don’t want to disrespect your religion so I would like to know, how can a non catholic correctly respect one of your sacred symbols, without of course having to give it away to a catholic? lol
I thank you all for your answers!
peter c: you may have soemthing to that! my first Miraculous medal my uncle had found it while metal detecting on my great aunts old property
lol but i plan on wearing mine.
Aw, thank you all.
You’re all so nice and. . . said the same thing
i don’t think i can choose a Best answer. I’ll put it to a vote.
How nice of you … my goodness, Bobby, you’re a breath of fresh air.
Since you do want to wear the medal, you really should have it blessed. Any priest can do this. You can take it to the parish office at a nearby Catholic church and ask to have it blessed (sometimes it’s necessary to drop it off there and return for it later, if a priest isn’t immediately available).
Or — if you’d like — just take it with you and go to a Mass. (You’d be most welcome, you know; although you’d remain seated while people go up to receive Holy Communion, no one will think it odd. Even some Catholics who are unable to receive for certain reasons stay in their seats). Afterward, when the priest is greeting folks as they leave, you can go up to him with the medal and ask him to bless it and he’ll do it right there.
If a blessed medal ever does wear out or become unusable, you can still keep it as you would anything else that you value — or, if not, proper disposal would be to bury it.
