Is Marking Pre-Made Maps a form of Cartography?
Cartography is the art and science of map making.
I’d say that marking pre-made maps is considered editing and is a step in this process. You’re really making a new map.
In essence, this is precisely what all cartographers do. No one these days is going out and surveying the entire earth to get a general configuration of land masses, for example.
